One of the First Gifts...

Rev. Richard Evans played a key role in the creation of the United Methodist Foundation of New England.

"In 1995, my wife Myrna and I established a charitable remainder unitrust, one of the first gifts of that kind to be arranged through the United Methodist Foundation of New England. We gave some appreciated real estate on which we would have owed substantial capital gains tax had we decided to sell it. We received a welcome charitable deduction on our income tax (the unused portion we carried over to the following year). We are enjoying the regular income stream from that trust, and we are glad that the remainder someday will benefit several of our favorite UM causes."
